Daniel Rich Galinson serves as the national account executive for Solutran, a company that lets retail businesses convert paper checks into electronic transactions at the point of sale. He works with companies across multiple retail industries to prospect and grow the firm’s national accounts. As a charitable contributor, Daniel Rich Galinson donates to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which arranges living quarters for families of children in hospitals.
The Ronald McDonald House program is based on the philosophy that parents of children who are sick sleep better when they only have to travel a short distance to care for them. Being well-rested makes them better able to discuss medical matters and frees them from providing meals and other household duties.
Ages for child eligibility range from infancy to 18 or 21, depending on the local chapter. Parents apply through a hospital’s social work department. They can stay overnight or for several months, depending on the condition being treated; in some cases that period can be a year or longer.
The program also organizes in-hospital family rooms, which may include a lounge with a television, reading and sleeping rooms, and shower facilities. Internet access, kitchen amenities, and snacks may also be available.
Costs for parents range from zero to $25 per day, although no one is turned away for financial reasons. Donations from individuals and corporations defray costs, often with the participation of McDonald’s restaurants.
