In addition to its commitment to improving consumer attitudes and making products less expensive and more accessible, Solutran’s impact includes participating in the Minnesota Hunger Initiative, part of the company’s effort to contribute to the community by supporting non-profit organizations and encouraging its employees to do the same. This initiative’s purpose is to encourage the community to engage in healthy eating practices by offering both money and discounts toward purchasing nutritious food.

As a part of its Healthy Savings platform, Solutran partnered with the Minnesota Hunger Initiative to address food insecurity in the community. The program supported 100 Minnesota families during a 12-week pilot, providing each $10 a week toward fresh produce. The program also offered participants discounts on nutritious food.

Previously the Twin Cities Hunger Initiative, MHI is comprised of community leaders on a mission to create an effective hunger relief system through collaborating with other agencies within the state. Some of their initiatives include acquiring nutritious food and increasing the enrollment of federal nutrition programs, in addition to increasing the number of organizations that serve those with food insecurity.
